Friendship
Sept 26
Step 1: “A friend
is a gift you give yourself!” – Robert Louis Stevenson
“Friends are……”
“Friends are important to probably everyone. Some people
like to have a lot for friends, some people only want a few. Some people
consider people that they only know casually to be friends, other expect to be
very close to call someone a friend. Some of us make friends easily, for other
it is difficult to make friends.”
“Friendships are not necessarily equally reciprocal. That means that often a
friendship is more important to one friend than to the other, and often one
person gives more to a friendship than another.”
Step 2: Divide
the class into groups.
Step 3: Ask your
students,
1.
What qualities do you look for in a friend?
2.
What qualities are important in a friendship?
Make a list of the qualities. Have
them rank the top 5 qualities as a group
Step 4:
Discussion questions;
1.
Was it easy or difficult to decide which five
qualities were most important? Why?
2.
Did males and females choose friend qualities
for different reasons?
3.
Which qualities are especially difficult to find
in a friend?
4.
What desirable qualities do you bring to
friendships?
Step 5: To have
good friends you must be a good friend.
Pass out bookmarks and go through
it as a class.
(Bookmarks will be provided in stacks of 35.)
