Kindness Starts With Me... Pay It Forward!

Feb 16

Write "Random Acts of Kindness" on the board and then ask what this phrase means. Have the class discuss times where they either saw or received a random act of kindness, and how that affected them.

Reaching out to others makes life more meaningful. Deepak Chopra says, "When you serve others, you gain more in return, and you will attract respect and generosity from others."

February is National Random Acts of Kindness Month.

Brainstorm a list of random acts of kindness that students could do (i.e.: sitting by someone new at lunch, holding the door for someone, saying thank you to the lunch ladies, saying hi in the hallways).

BONUS IDEA: Make a poster with a kindness quote, goal, or design/slogan that your class comes up with. Have the students sign their names that they will "pay it forward" with random acts of kindness -or- notes with possible random acts of kindness on them. Bring the poster(s) down when you're finished, we'll be displaying them in the lunch room.
